Who's your mama?

My sister gave birth to a lovely baby girl, although i was in amritsar, i was elated....

strange how a new life starts, and to be true we as adults have huge responsability on our head to make things beautiful for these younger guys.

but all of us adult people, dilute our pursuits, so as to sound more practical.
I am trying to make my pursuits as viscous as possible...

I just realised what i have to do with my life!

The whole picture hasn't loaded yet, but the picture just got a bit clearer. and especially since it has been hazy all this year, its no less than great that this has happened.

it would be some kind of mixture of doing something based around humor and comics, with a definitive bent on the technical aspect, plus there would be parallel creative pursuits, creative but not a movie or a comic, parallel micro ventures which solve small, really small problems.

and this would be the focus, everything else can take the backseat.

and here are some character sketches...

Inking Lessons...

From Jimmy Cho's Blog

"Late last year, my buddy Ramon Perez invited me to fill in for him at a class he teaches on inking comics. Specifically, he asked me to come in and give a talk to the students about how I approach lighting and "spotting blacks" (a comic term for figuring out where to put the large areas of black ink on a panel or page). Ramon's an excellent artist and inker himself, with a lot more experience in comics than me, so I really didn't know what else I could add to what he was teaching, but I agreed to give a short demonstration."

#%$#%$#%

W e live in a glorious culture, its so glorious that since i have been back from college i have been dying to run away.

you are supposed to work as chottu for your parents, your job has no meaning for them, also you won't get the time to innovate and experiment..also you are expected to make comporomises to make as much money as you can.

also if you live with your parents, you are equally fucked ... because then doing anything else is also impossible...

and if by mistake u mention it anywhere, people look at you, talk to you as if you just murdered two hundred pupies, or you were the guy who killed jessica lal...

i hope no one reads this, even if they do they don't mention it.

chut log...

1. i once saw a guy, 21 years old, counting the basic things he wanted to do in life (while sipping coffee), and how he has already done 90% of them, and he was speaking with full baby ishtyle and confidence, the style where you spread your lower lip while talking...as if he was some 60 years old..was really funny...

2. there's this girl i know who bitches about everyone, but funny is that her bitching starts with "i am like this only, i tell what i feel, i don't like to do chugli, but when X (or Y or Z or A or B or C) did this i felt bad, it was not right, and.. so...on " ...she always has this chat with everybody but never with the concerned person X, and i can bet on this that the poor soul(the girl) just hasn't realised that she is bitching, which makes it even more funny!

3. I have seen a strange characteristic of teams, some groups/teams fight, and they fight like an ass while working on a project, they blame each other, don't work on time....but when the project is over, everything is forgotten and these teams chat happily at parties, get all smily group photos clicked....those type of pictures where everyone gives their blank smiles, and someone is making hand gestures, somebody is making weird faces etc...

4. at work, nobody misses to mention the hours of sleep or meals they miss over work...and you have to see the expression when they are doing that..."Uff kal bas 4 ghante so saka!"

the joke

today we were shooting Campus Blogs with Sandeep, which comes on Channel V, well after the shoot he asked me how i have a creative career....

and then i started bullshitting about how i used to work in banglore, earned huge, then my girfriend of 6 years passed, and how i left everything and came to delhi for a creative job...and how my father is in RAW etc...

lot of bullshit, but death ke baare mein joke kuch zyada ho gaya...

A New Delhi Everyday

A Pleasant morning .... and i am in New Delhi...

DAMNED : The Asshole called zamid hamid

He's an ass who calls himself a defence ananlyst...everyone makes fun of him....nobody in India knows him, even we (Adhiraj and me) found out when we were researching on DAMNED...in one scene we show him being slapped and kicked out of his car!

Zaid Hamid

Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid is a self-styled Pakistani security consultant and defence analyst.[1][2]

Zaid Hamid vows to make India "Pakistan", says Pak to send more Mujahideens

Breaking News! Zaid Hamid, Pakistan's defence analyst and the most hated person in India aftermath Mumbai terror attacks because of his hatred campaign against India and Indian forces, was grilled by Indian Army officer Bharat Verma. The program was broadcasted on ExpressNews TV.

Bharat Verma took Zaid Hamid on, saying India had to divide Pakistan by liberating Bangladesh, as Pakistani forces raped more than 90,000 women in East Pakistan (which is Bangladesh now). That forced Zaid Hamid to threaten that Pakistan will do more Kargils and send more Mujahideens to India.

Verma looked calm and composed, but Zaid Hamid lost his cool and uttered what went against the policies of his government. Verma was at his oratory best and forced Hamid to confess whatPakistan has been doing for long. It exposed Pakistan before the world. The program was stopped midway by the Pakistani government and ExpressNews TV distanced itself from the comments made by Zaid Hamid by running a news ticker.

Click on the following links to wach that debate:

In another video, Zaid Hamid crossed all limits in a program on NewsOne TV and said there is just one solution to resolve the crisis - "MakeIndia one nation and give it a name Pakistan. Make it a Muslim country. When there will be the voice of Radio Pakistan there, everything will be sorted out". Watch this video here..

The Man Who Took Pakistan Down...

Before him was Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto...the liberal PM who was taking pakistan places....but this man fucked with the process and took pak down...

there should be a movie made on him ...although Om Puri plays him quite well in Charlie Wilson's War

DAMNED : Who is SBM ?

Sultan Bashiruddin Mahmood..

is a Pakistani nuclear engineer ....
He is well known for his contacts and sympathies for Taliban which resulted in ending his prominent engineering career.
He first came to prominence in 1971 when while working at the KANNUP Power Plan in Karachi he invented an instrument, the SBM probe, to check heavy water leaks in nuclear power plants, a problem that was affecting nuclear plants all over the world and is still used worldwide.[2].

opted for early retirement from PAEC in 1999 as he was transfeered to a non technical position by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's government due to his opposition to CTBT.

In August 2001, Mahmood and one of his colleagues at Mahmood's Ummah Tameer-e-Nau charity met with Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, in Afghanistan.

Mahmood was arrested in Lahore on 19th October 2001 by Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence because of his suspected connections with the Taliban.[4]

was declared a terrorist by the U.S PresidentGeorge W. Bush in his televised address on 23 December 2001. Despite clear indications from CIA that he is not involved with any terrorist outfit.[2]

he has been released from the intelligence agencies and placed into house arrest and is still not allowed to meet anyone. In 2006, Mahmood suffered a heart attack....

Uonline : What we are working on

we started uonline with the central idea of providing good web design services, at nice costs, and we worked on and off for two years from college, and finally full on since last six months. (with me and shashank still working on parallel activities )

in the last six months we found out these things about web design's current scenario in india :

1. Industry Standards : There are a zillion guys working in this domain, and with no set standards (by standards i mean that there are no classification or grading of companies, or no government watchdog in this industry) getting the price you ask for is difficult, because there is a cheaper guy ready to ruin your client.,

the spectrum varies from top notch companies like this to shit makers/confusing providers like this...
(web design is an amalgamate of creative and professional industry..and plus this industry standard thing creates trouble when a client asks you to deliever prices at par with the industry!)

2. The Consumer is confused : If you are someone who wants to get his/her website made then you most probably will start by looking up what websites are, then you even go as far as learning details about hosting, domains....finally you get confused, and by focussing more on the technicalities....you lose the idea of what you wanted in the first place....

its sad that even when there are zillion web design companies, no one takes pain in educating their customers, sad but true....that is one place where we really want to stand out...(notice : want to..)

3. Pay for the company : no one service provider is focussing one leasing his employee, basically you pay for the copmpany rather than paying for the number of employees who are working on your project, and to be true this number varies a lot....your only point of satisfaction is that a company is working on your project, also if there are small small things you want to change...you are caught...

this is again where we plan to be different.
(notice : Plan to be)

The Quality of Life for an Adult in India

is bad.

creative workplace is really consuming as work hours vary a lot, there are no weekends, seldom there are sundays.
remaining time is consumed by family (most of us live with family)..someone's brithday, marriage, death, function etc.

so you end up with a headache...

adult=me.

Complaint about the traffic police's online passiveness

Sir,

I am a 22 year old Media Professional who lives in delhi, daily while i commute i experience many problems which i want to send back as feedback but its impossible to write a letter to you everytime, because there is no online feedback system avilable on the traffic police's website.

The give feedback/complaint form does'nt work, plus the design and usability quotient of the website is so bad that its difficult to interact with.

It would be great if

  1. The current website could be improved, so as to match the standards of what a Capital's Traffic Police wehould look like, so that it does'nt falter.

  2. There can be a common complaint point (online) for providing the problems faced during commuting, for example faulty red lights, road complaints, absence of Traffic Police staff.

Sumit Kumar

Focus On Your Business

Some days back, we the team at Random Magazine went to Tekriti for their advice on how to improve our website, since the owner of tekriti is our company head's cousin, the advice comes free.

When we started discussing the website this guy told a thing which will stick with me for the rest of my professional life.

he said "Focus on Your business, why do you want to worry about an HTML website...getting tangled in its tech...get a blog type website (CMS) where technical thingy is not your concern"

now if look at it from a broader perspective it means that you should minimise your efforts being put outside your core business, its killer....i.e getting in touch with someone for the specific job, this someone being someone who's core job our something is!

THE PERFORMERS ON LOL NITE

Raghav Mandava started out with working in a sports chanel, he eventually found himself to be a writer (mostly for football) and is also a full time a flair-bartender. He always had a taste for stand up comics amongst which his favorite are Jeff Dunham, Mitch Hedberg and Jerry Sienfeld. Today he is also a stand up comic, and hopes to tickle a funny bone or two (without the doctors hammer of-course)

Sumit is an illustrator and a creative, also a failed enterprenuer, but you can excuse him for that (he's 21) ... he's the Assistant Editor of Random Magazine (uhm uhm ...)......he can be found working on a new idea, everyday..."

Sanjay makes you laugh, muse, ponder, agree, laugh, disagree, laugh, identify... and then of course laugh some more.

Who am I?
I am Speakeezee ….. a.k.a. Devika Singh Chauhan.
I’m a lawyer, a singer, an orator, a comic, a dreamer, a scribe, a poet, a dog lover, an actress, an activist, a gastronomist, a chef, a dancer, an optimist, a realist, a bookworm, an explorer, a designer, a palmist, a tarot reader, a swimmer, a fighter, a pacifist, a believer, a rationalist, a loyalist, a nomad....a bundle of contradictions; I am a life well lived....

What’s my inspiration?

We all wish to leave this world leaving behind something penultimate, timeless, noteworthy… to reach the end of the road thinking "God, I have done all that I could do, lived all that I could live. I'd like to walk the wild side now; with you." To me that’s a life well lived, a life I would like to live, till the day turns & the moon drops off the edge of the world. I'll do this forever, coz God put me on earth to do a certain number of things; right now, I'm so far back…I will never die!

Taming Horses (2009) :The Little Animated Film

In 2008 I came up with this story and by 2009 made this film with an Animator friend of mind - Shivang Chopra.

I recently rediscovered my own film while working on something else. So here's this update post.

"Taming Horses is the story of two cavemen, different in their approach to life, who discover a strange animal and their ideas to use this new animal shapes the course of human history."

The film is very badly done at many places - artwise, but Shivang's filmmaking skills sort of saved it. Other savior's  -
Sarthak's Voice over (the morning jock at Hit 95 FM, Delhi)
Ravi Sankar's background score.
